Xmas lights - London

Photographer’s Notes:

London has been lit up systematically from Early November and are lit after dark each day until 6th January! I missed a few switch-on ceremonies as its been such a busy 2 months.

Bob Hoskins, star of Disney’s ‘A Christmas Carol’ came down to switch on the lights at St. Paul’s cathedral. This was also timed with the xmas lighting on Regent Street and Oxford Street which were shut off to traffic and thronged with people for the annual Christmas lights switching on ceremony by Jim Carrey at Oxford Circus and Colin Firth had the honour of switching on the lights at Regent Street all beamed live via satellite on to big screens.

All made possible as Disney paid off three premiere London neighborhoods to coordinate their Christmas lighting ceremonies to coincide with the launch of their new movie ‘A Christmas Carol’ which premièred in Leicester sq immediately after! I was shooting on behalf of the kool people at MADE UP LTD, who are a bespoke event design, production and tour management company specializing in developing innovative branding solutions, that set-up the lighting gear at St. Paul’s.

At the St. Paul’s switch-on there was live music from opera singer Andrea Bocelli, Spandau Ballet, Little Boots and Britain’s Got Talent star Faryl Smith, Scouting for Girls and the St Pauls Cathedral Choir. It was also my second time being in a mass world record attempt, on this occasion however, it was an attempt to set a world record for the mass Christmas Carol sing along which Fortunately WE BROKE!! So yeah I was there!! I feel like I need a certificate for achieving that, so if any one who wants an excuse to go celebrate something soon I’m game! haha.
