Clubbin’ 4 Haiti

Photographer’s Notes:
Hundreds of thousands of people died and many more are believed to be critically injured in the aftermath of the tragic earthquake that devastated the Haitian capital Haiti, Port-au-Prince. True Tiger & Ctrl.Alt.Shift partnered up with SOME Night for a special charity event in aid of Haiti late last month @ the Den With so many Top Urban artists coming up these days in the UK, this night featured a HUGE line up of Urban UK artists. Fellow photographer Rodolphe Linere and I went down to capture some of the night.

I was covering another event previous to arriving at the Den, so when I arrived it was packed, as in wall to wall of people down to boogie for a good cause. It was the place to be especially for this star studded event. Sadly a lot of people had to be turned away as the 1200 capacity venue was bursting to capacity. Some of the famous artists and DJ’s that showed up and waived the show fees normally paid to them for performing :

They raised over £10,000 on the night. Have a peek into what was a brilliant event, covered on behalf of Tilllate.com here.
A MONTH on and reports are out saying conditions are improving every day, more and more medical aid and volunteers are entering the capital either by road, air or by sea.
Despite the initial intense rescue and recovery by numerous brave volunteers and aid officials there are still many believed to be trapped under the rubble in this densely poulated capital. In a disaster like this, hundreds of thousands of survivors are left homeless, orphaned or in need of major health care. Critical shelter needs still seem to be lacking even a month on, however, I am very impressed by the mass donation from individuals, organizations, countries and different events being put together all to raise money needed for the relief effort in Haiti.
As Tesco says, “Every little helps”. I was initially questioning how all this money is going to be used and where it is all ending up. As I research (website statistics etc) and reflected deeper, a lot of organizations already have enough money from donors but that is just enough for immediate aid work.
But we cant stop there, continuous donations are still needed to help rebuild the capital, sustain medical aid influx, source food and clean water, delivery of regular electric power, improve infrastructure that will help for quicker delivery/storage of aid supplies. All this and much more is why Haiti need our help.
You can still donate money via these means below.
